Rather than resorting to coffee try this wonderful combination of maca and raw cacao powder for a healthy morning boost. Using cashew nuts creates a creamy texture and also provides plenty of tryptophan to help balance mood. This recipe is taken from my book Eat Yourself Pregnant. Maca is an incredible stress busting superfood. It also helps to balance the hormones by nourishing and balancing the endocrine system.

What’s good about it?
Maca is traditionally used as a balancing and stress busting superfood. It may help to balance hormones and supporting the stress response via the pituitary
- Place the cashew nuts and water in a blender and process until smooth.
- Add the remaining ingredients except the ice and process until smooth.
- Blend in the ice. Sprinkle over a little grated chocolate if wished.
Did you Know?
If you feel particularly stressed then you could add some ashwagandha to the blend as well. For a protein boost add a scoop of vanilla or chocolate protein powder
75g cashew nuts
250ml coconut water
2tsp maca powder
1 small banana, cut into slices and frozen
2tbsp raw cacao powder
1tbsp Chia Seeds
Drizzle of honey
1tsp vanilla extract
two large handfuls crushed ice
a little grated chocolate for sprinkling
